چکیده
The DPNase from pig brain has been found to catalyze an exchange reaction between isonicotinic acid hydraaide and DPN to form the isonicotinic acid hydraeide analogue of DPN (l).’ In a preliminary paper (2) we have reported that the pig brain DPNase catalyzed the formation of the 3-acetylpyridine analogue of DPN (APDPN) according to the following equation, in which R represents the adenosine diphosphate ribose part of the DPN molecule:

Flavoprotein-catalyzed direct hydrogen transfer between pyridine nucleotides.
Several flavoproteins which oxidize reduced pyridine nucleotides have been observed to catalyze an exchange reaction between the protons of the medium and the reduced pyridine nucleotide (1, 2) as well as to mediate reduction of analogues of pyridine nucleotides by reduced pyridine nucleotides (3). Weber, Kaplan, San Pietro, and Stolzenbach (2) have made isotope studies of the analogue reductio...
متن کاملChemical properties of 3-substituted pyridine analogues of diphosphopyridine nucleotide.
It has been shown previously that the diphosphopyridine nucleotidase from pig brain is capable of catalyzing an exchange reaction between various substituted pyridine compounds and diphosphopyridine nucleotide to form analogues of diphosphopyridine nucleotide (l-4). The variation in reactivity of the various analogues prepared in this manner indicates the importance of the grouping in position ...
متن کاملThe conversion of pyridine hydroxamic acids to amides by mouse liver mitochondria.
It has been reported previously that a single injection of nicotinamide or 3-acetylpyridine into mice leads to a marked increase in liver diphosphopyridine nucleotide (l-3). In the course of investigation of other pyridine bases and diphosphopyridine nucleotide analogues, it was found that an injection of nicotinohydroxamic acid also led to increased pyridine nucleotide levels in the mouse live...
متن کاملEnzymatic studies with analogues of diphosphopyridine nucleotide.
It has been previously shown (l-3) that the nicotinamide moiety of diphosphopyridine nucleotide can be replaced by other pyridine bases without the loss of the coenzyme function. The observation that both the 3-acetylpyridine and pyridine-3aldehyde analogues of diphosphopyridine nucleotide function as coensymes with various dehydrogenases (3) indicated that the amide group on DPN was not essent...
متن کاملAdditional Routes in the Metabolism of 3-acetylpyridine.
The ability of 3-acetylpyridine to serve as an antagonist of niacin (see, for example, (24)) and on occasion to serve in a niacin-like capacity (see, for example, (4, 5)) has created a sustained interest in the various metabolic routes responsible for the observed nutritional effects. The demonstration (6-10) that 3-acetylpyridine is metabolized to nicotinic acid and nicotinamide affords the ba...
